In 1891, the University of Arizona planted its first cactus garden, now known as the Joseph Wood Krutch Garden, creating a sanctuary in the heart of the desert. Over a century later, the garden remains a tribute to the resilient beauty of the Sonoran landscape. As you stroll through this desert oasis, the air is thick with the earthy, sweet scent of agave, mesquite, and blooming desert flowers. Each fragrance tells a story of survival and adaptation, blending to form the unmistakable aroma of a place where nature’s most rugged inhabitants thrive against all odds.
